A 37-year-old Alabama mother was found dead inside her home Wednesday and officials are investigating the case as a homicide, authorities said.
Officials found Constance Leigh Woolweaver's body inside her Highland Lakes, Ala., home after her son had called 911 at 3:45 p.m. when he returned from school, according to the Shelby County Sheriff's Office.
Shelby Sheriff John Samaniego believes her death was not random.
"Her intentional death was the result of a calculated act and our investigators are making progress identifying her killer,” Samaniego told WIAT-TV. “This was a senseless act and I am very saddened for her family and friends."
Officials have not confirmed a motive for the killing or if a suspect has been caught.
Woolweaver's Homewood High School friends set up a GoFundMe page to raise funds to care for her two children, Chandler and Kate. So far, the page has raised more than $9,000 of its $20,000 goal.
