A heartless Pennsylvania trio strangled a 21-year-old heroin user to death before dressing him up with a hat and sunglasses and dumping his lifeless body in a wooded area.
Preston Layfield, 19, Tyler Mirabelli, 22 and Amanda Wayda, 20, were slammed with aggravated assault and conspiracy charges in the Aug. 25 death of 21-year-old Joshua Rose.
Rose apparently overdosed on heroin at a Scranton home, police said. But rather than seeking medical attention, the trio dressed him up to appear alive before driving north on Interstate 81 — at one point even stopping for gas.
"Bottom line, they drove right past a hospital and continued north on I-81," Pennsylvania State Police Corporal Mark Prushinski said. "At this time, we are not sure why they did that."
While driving, the trio placed a plastic bag over Rose's head and strangled him with a pair of jumper cables. They then hurled his body over an embankment in Susquehanna County where his body was found near railroad tracks.
An autopsy report for Rose was pending Wednesday and police said charges for the three sickos might change depending on its outcome. They're expected in court for initial hearings on Sept. 7.
Rose's Facebook page features several selfies of what appears to be a chest tattoo saying "Family, Pride, Respect."
"Shoutout to people who grew up with emotionally unsupportive parents and have to hear other people talk about how supportive their families are while you're basically guiding yourself through life," Rose said in an Aug. 25 post.
